Moving Shadow Vinyl Record spinning!

August 2001

August 1, 2001

Wow, the new merchandise has proved rather popular and some of the items are now actually out of stock. Our manufacturers can’t keep up at the moment so there’ll be a few weeks where some things may not be available, proving once again that you need to pay attention when we release something and get in there first! Of course, being on our email list will help you out with knowing upfront information as well.

We’ll also have some news on the availability of being able to buy our tunes via the web as well next month as we’ll be looking to open a new on-line record shop. This promises to be quite an Aladdin’s cave for those of you who never got hold of all the originals and find it hard getting the new material… but more about that later.

On the games front we’ve teamed up once again with the maverick NYC based games label ‘Rockstar’, providing a selection of tracks for the third instalment of Grand Theft Auto - GTA3. As usual the game promises more controversy and, judging by the screenshots and artwork we’ve seen here at Shadow, we’re more than happy to be a part of it. The game is set for an October UK release on the PS2 so check out our site next month for further information, competitions and an exclusive chance to hear the audio.

Apart from jammy trips to New York to play the GTA3 game in person, Rob Playford has been out of the office and busy in various studios lately. The first fruits of these outings provides us with a remix of Deep Blue’s ‘Helicopter Tune’ which Rob turned up with after a few days working with breaks maestro Rennie Pilgrem who, for those that don’t know, was one third of rave/hardcore outfit Rhythm Section and now runs heavyweight breakbeat label TCR. This is just one of many mixes scheduled for release later in the year of which we’ve also had another recent delivery. The classic Blame track ‘Music Takes You’ has just been given a total breaks and bass overhaul by Blim (Original Movement resident and S.O.U.R./Emotif artist turned highly acclaimed Nu school breaks DJ/Producer/remixer/label boss & all round nice bloke!) so make sure you don’t miss that one.

Anyway, releases that you can get your hands on right now.
