The second Killa Bites compilation project featuring new and classic tracks from an array of Moving Shadow artists, as well as various choice cuts from some of the scenes finest. Compiled by Technical Itch (aka: Mark Caro); No surprises for guessing that this album contains some SAVAGE BEATS!
Tech Itch is renowned throughout drum & bass circles not only for his superb programming and production skills, but also for his domination of some of the filthiest bass-lines, drum-sequencing & full-on sound creations the drum & bass scene has ever known. Over the past few years he’s unleashed frighteners like ‘The Dreamer’ (Shadow99), The Virus (Shadow101) and ‘Stronghold’ (Shadow116), and his most recent release on Moving Shadow was the strictly limited MSXEP005, in September 2000, which sold out on day of release, and helped to cement his reputation as one of the scene’s leading producers.
For Killa Bites 2, Mark has searched out his favourite tracks, dub-plates, DATs and white labels, as well as ringing round that select bunch of DJs who regularly play out on the club circuit, to find cutting-edge material for this, his first compilation project for Moving Shadow.
Selected artists for Killa Bites 2 include household names like Dom & Roland (showcasing brand new material) and Decoder & Substance (aka Kosheen - say no more) make their presence felt. Dieselboy gives an American flavour to the mix, with Stakka & Skynet from Under Fire Records and Konflict from Renegade Hardware/Audio Blueprint Records also laying down the beats. Meanwhile Calyx, Biostacis, Ice Minus & Tech Itch bring their own particular brand of darkness into the proceedings… There are also some excellent musical pairings in the form of tracks from Dom featuring Keaton, Simon Bassline-Smith & Drumsound, Kemel & Rob Data as well as Ice Minus & Decoder. Add to this some brand new remixes: Aquasky’s ‘Lords of Motion’ by Tech Itch, Dieselboy’s ‘Invid’ by Future Cut and Tech Itch’s own remix of ‘Reborn’ and its starting to get really interesting. Tech Itch also includes some new names on the album: boys currently doing the business out there - DJ Hive and Cujo. Lots to get your teeth into, that’s if Killa Bites’ razor-sharp beats don’t get you first!
