I enjoyed putting this together - so many quality tunes, great to revisit them.
The playlist shines a light on a few tunes and artists that might normally get overlooked. There’s a bit of old-skool, some tracks from the jazzy/ambient era, and a couple of tougher tracks too.

Moving Shadow was one of the first D&B labels we were exposed to. Their CD sampler series mixed by Timecode would find its way into our hands through the local record store and the whole world within it world blew us away. The music, the graphics, the titles and themes… everything. This was around ‘98. From then on we listened to everything Moving Shadow put out and found their music in many games we played (GTA, Rollcage, TOCA Touring Car Championship…).
After years of making tracks and releasing them, a dream came true; our own release on Moving Shadow in the form of the Block Control EP (which most Noisia fans also consider a defining moment). We were, and still are, honoured to be a part of the amazing history and unique track record of this label.
Our selection here reflects our own memories and favourites from the 98-2006 era. So many mind-blowing records. Thank you so much, Moving Shadow.

Moving Shadow changed my life in so many ways - firstly as an iconic and seminal label that shaped my love of Jungle / Drum & Bass, but far more importantly it was the launching pad for my artist career that still continues over 25 years later.
This playlist is my nostalgic tribute to the label that gave me immeasurable support, guidance and inspiration. It features a mix of artists and tracks that were hugely influential for me, as well as a spread of my own tracks that reflect my evolution as a producer during my cherished years on the label.

This playlist by Alex from Hyper-On Experience pays homage to the Moving Shadow tracks that influenced his early career. It also includes certain classics that were the result of those influences.
F**king Voodoo Magic, Man …
The Rave scene is set in stone and the tracks in this playlist form part of the foundations. At that time, each weekend brought new sounds and fresh ideas hurtling over massive sound systems in crowded fields and warehouses. This selection is a chronicle journey through Moving Shadow’s involvement, and direction, of the UK’s most important music scene since Punk. I have a strong emotional attachment to those times and these tracks encapsulate the joy I felt discovering the music.
Alex Banks | Hyper-On Experience
Focusing on the output of one group of three people, this playlist is predominantly a “best of” 2 Bad Mice and their alter ego Kaotic Chemistry (plus some other tracks that have close ‘family ties’). We go way back to the very early days of Moving Shadow here, but there’s nothing happy about this Hardcore!
It’s stone cold classics all the way.
This playlist is a “just so you know” nod to the tracks that, while not making their way into modern Drum & Bass selections, were responsible for so much. There’s some pretty early and limited production techniques here, but they still hold up in their own right, even after all these years. Pretty proud of that!
Did you know, “Waremouse” (which appears in this playlist) was the track responsible for getting Goldie into a studio for the first time after he’d heard it out! What if THAT had never happened, eh?
